Information about Jack
Hello! I`m Jack, and I`ve been professionally tutoring physics and maths since 2015. I hold a first class honours degree in Physics with Theoretical Physics from Imperial College London, as well as a masters in Theoretical Physics, also from Imperial. My most recent A-level students all achieved their desired grades and places at the universities of their choice. (Please note that I`m currently only accepting students for online tuition).
I`ve been lucky enough to work alongside several world-leading theoretical physicists and I have a high level of knowledge about maths and physics, meaning that I can illustrate apparently dry, abstract topics with many "real world" examples and applications.
For GCSE and A-level, the focus is on both understanding (and enjoying) the subject, and achieving success in exams - no two students learn in exactly the same way, and every lesson is tailored towards the needs of the individual student. I focus first making sure the student understands the key ideas and motivation for the topic, then reinforce this knowledge using plenty of practice with exam questions.
I also hold a degree in Philosophy and English Literature from the University of Liverpool, and when I`m not tutoring I work designing electronics for use by artists and musicians - this arts background allows me to empathise with students for whom science doesn`t come naturally, and gives me an insight into how to make technical subjects accessible... and hopefully even fun!
Availability: Weekday evenings after 4:30pm - please check my availability for a more detailed breakdown. I try to be flexible about timings, so please get in touch with me if you`d like tutoring outside of these times and I`ll do my best to fit you in.
Willing to travel: 1 miles
Experience: I started tutoring in 2012, giving formal and informal lessons to the children of my friends and adults interested in knowing more. I am also frequently asked to explain scientific topics to a non-technical audience (my friends and family), and the usual response is "Oh, NOW I get it!".
DBS Check: Yes

Feedback For Jack (17)

My daughter is in Year 10 and wanted some help with certain areas of her maths. We found Jack based on the good reviews he had. My daughter has already had a few sessions and likes his style of teaching. She says he is good at explaining things step by step, and if you dont understand he goes into more depth to help. He sets practice questions but makes sure you understand the concept(s) before you do them. She says he is friendly and efficient!

Very friendly and amazing tutor. Explains in a way which makes learning easier, more fun, and tasks less difficult. Helped me boost my grades.
