Information about Jack

I`ve been professionally tutoring physics and maths for five years and I hold a first class honours degree in Physics with Theoretical Physics from Imperial College London. I also hold a masters with distinction in Theoretical Physics, also from Imperial. My most recent A-level students all achieved their desired grades and places at the universities of their choice.

I`ve been lucky enough to work alongside several world-leading theoretical physicists and I have a high level of knowledge about maths and physics, meaning that I can illustrate apparently dry, abstract topics with many "real world" examples and applications.

For GCSE and A-level, the focus is on both understanding (and enjoying) the subject, and achieving success in exams - no two students learn in exactly the same way, and every lesson is tailored towards the needs of the individual student. I focus first making sure the student understands the key ideas and motivation for the topic, then reinforce this knowledge using plenty of practice with exam questions.

I also hold a degree in Philosophy and English Literature from the University of Liverpool, and when I`m not tutoring I work designing electronics for use by artists and musicians - this arts background allows me to empathise with students for whom science doesn`t come naturally, and gives me an insight into how to make technical subjects accessible... and hopefully even fun!

Experience: I started tutoring in 2012, giving formal and informal lessons to the children of my friends and adults interested in knowing more. I am also frequently asked to explain scientific topics to a non-technical audience (my friends and family), and the usual response is "Oh, NOW I get it!".

Jack is a very good tutor. Friendly and very professional. My son had successfully passed his exams this summer. According to my son, Jack uses different learning methods to make him understand the topics by linking them together. Moreover, he gave him exam tips & how to approach the questions. I would highly recommend jack as a tutor.

I’ve had Jack for the final 2 months leading up to my A Level retakes. With good organisation and clear explanations, Jack has helped me improve my Physics ability with every session we’ve had. His advise on exam ‘tactics’ was particularly helpful. I would definitely recommend Jack.

We have been very fortunate to have Jack as a tutor to our son on his A Level Physics Year 2. Jack has got a very good understanding of the syllabus and he is very encouraging to our son. Jack has helped him by sending through materials and exercises to work on. Jack has excellent subject knowledge, is very enthusiastic about Physics and makes it interesting. My son really enjoys the subject, Jack through his passion has brought it alive. He is also very focused on getting students to raise their game and reach their potential. I have no hesitation in recommending him.
