Between 1999 and 2018 I gained wide experience as a Humanities (mostly History) teacher in secondary schools, both state and private. Since April 2020, I have been tutoring online in a number of subjects besides History. I would prefer to continue in some way with education so that I can draw on the experience I gained in many different schools. In both classroom teaching and individual tuition, I have prioritised the building of students’ confidence so they feel able to ask questions when they need to.

Availability: I am available for online tuition at present. I can usually travel to students as well, but at the moment it may be better to use Zoom.

Experience: Before beginning teacher training in 1999, I was a tutor in England and abroad (1997-99), working with ADHD and Asperger’s Syndrome as well as with mainstream students (1997-99). I tutored KS3 and GCSE History, Geography, RE, and English. Since April 2020 I have been working as an online tutor, adding GCSE Business Studies and Combined Science to the subjects just listed, together with Creative iMedia (Cambridge National Award) and BTEC Sports Studies.

In my classroom teaching since 1999, my main subject has been History but I have also taught KS3 Geography; Islamic World Studies (in Kuwait); PSHEE & Citizenship; KS3 RE; A2 Government & Politics; GCSE Psychology, and Sociology GCSE/A-Level. I therefore have quite wide experience of secondary education, including academic and pastoral duties, in both the private and maintained sectors.
