Hello everyone, I`m James, I`m 21, and I`m currently in my third year of study at Lancaster University. The degree I`m studying towards is BA (Hons) English Literature and History.
I`d love to be able to tutor students in English Literature and/or History. During my A-level History course I studied topics such as The Tudors (1485-1603) and Russia in Revolution (1917-1953). My time at university has enabled me to study various time periods though, and I am more than willing to diversify topics.
I would also be willing to discuss topics for Biology, and, depending on those topics, would be willing to take on students of Biology too.
Ideal students for me to tutor would be between the years 7 and 11 at Secondary School, or studying for their A-levels at Sixth Form or College.

Wednesdays: 9am-7pm
Thursdays: 9am-7pm
Fridays: 9am-12pm
Saturdays: 10am-5pm
Sundays: 10am-5pm

Experience: Education:
10 GCSEs at A*-C, including English Language (A*), English Literature (A), Maths (B), Additional Science (A), History (A), and Catering and Hospitality (A).
3 A-levels; Biology (B), English Literature (A*), and History (A).
2 AS-levels; Chemistry (B), and an Extended Project Qualification (EPQ) at grade B. This EPQ examined the impact of destructive fishing practices on the marine environment and ways these practices were being combatted.
I am currently on track to achieve to First in my university degree.

Extra-curricular experience:
Head Part-One Mentor at Lancaster University: This role gave me the opportunity to mentor incoming first year students whilst I was in my second year. Students were able to ask questions about what a university standard essay or presentation should look like, what is expected of students in lectures, seminars, and workshops, and about university life in general, for example how to budget or where to go for mental health support.
Academic Representative: During my second year of university I acted as the student representative to the Department of English Literature and Creative Writing, essentially acting as the voice of the students at departmental meetings and faculty meetings.
General Secretary of the Lancaster University Mental Health Society: This role gave me the opportunity to work closely with students experiencing mental health difficulties, to support such students, and to develop my understanding of how mental health can affect academic performance.
Year 7 Mentor: During my first year of Sixth Form I had the opportunity to act as a mentor in a Year 7 science class, assisting the teacher in delivering lessons in Biology, Chemistry, and Physics, and providing extra support for students who found certain topics challenging.
