Information about Sheikh M B
I am a 6th (final) year medical student at University College London (UCL), holding a First Class Honours intercalated degree in Neuroscience. I aspire to be a surgeon in my future career.
I am willing to tutor students up to A-Level in (in order of preference): Maths, Chemistry, Biology and Physics (GCSE only). I am also very experienced with all aspects of the medicine application process (personal statement, admissions tests and interviews). Originally from Leeds, UK, I have come to UCL having left secondary school with 10 A-Stars at GCSE and 4 A-Stars at A-Level, for which I have received numerous awards and prizes. In my 1st year medical school examinations, I have passed with merit, achieved an average of 73% for my 2nd year examinations, and 80% for my 4th year examinations.
Since I started my GCSEs, I have tutored several primary and secondary school/college children. Some of my students have been of a similar, or same age, to me, and I have found that I can build excellent rapport and communicate well with them. Conversely, some of my other students, including those I encountered in my role as Assistant at a local Kumon centre, have been much younger than me and I have been able to cope.
I pride myself in my flexibility in tutoring approach. I am comfortable with pushing high-achieving students to achieve better grades, assisted by my advanced knowledge of topics through my university degree. At the same time, I am equally competent with helping students who are struggling with their subject to enhance their understanding and confidence in the subject, and then aiming for improved grades.
Parents have told me that the children like my relaxed and friendly approach, and appreciate my patience with them when they are tackling new concepts. They also like my balance of teaching and assessing in ensuring material is covered appropriately. I also ask the students if they need specific topics covering, and often ask them what they think of the tutoring - the response is generally very positive.
Availability: Preferably during weekends as university commitments are time-consuming during the weekdays however, I am prepared to consider weekdays depending on the day and length of time. I would prefer students to be within the Seven Kings/Goodmayes/Ilford area if possible.
Willing to travel: 5 miles
Experience: Please see the comments above as well as below:
I have tutored students since my GCSE years, ranging from weekly tutoring to tutoring in preparation for exams. Since September 2011, I have worked for Kumon Alwoodley (I still work here when I am back in Leeds). In the past academic year, I tutored up to 5 students at once in all core subjects and medicine applications, ranging from KS3 to A Level. I am pleased to see that most of my students have achieved excellent attainment in their examinations, and many of my medicine application students are currently in, or are holding offers from, top medical schools in the UK.
I have taught Maths the most, up to AS Level, although I am comfortable with teaching A2 Level Maths. I have also tutored students in Science and English up to GCSE level, although I would be comfortable teaching A-Level students in Chemistry, Biology and English Literature.

Mr. Sheikh tutored our Daughter prior to her GCSE exams. Subjects taught were Maths and Science. Our daughter was very happy with the quality of the lessons - she believes the lessons added to her ability to achieve a higher grade, in her exams.
Mr. Sheikh has a calm, easygoing and friendly personality. We felt comfortable asking him about our daughter`s progress. He always gave us honest feedback after each lesson.
We highly recommended him to other parents.
