Information about Nisa

Hi, my name is Nisa! I have recently graduated from my masters in Clinical Neuroscience from University College London (UCL) and completed my undergraduate in Medical Physiology (Human anatomy) from the University of Leicester.

Due to my strong background in science, I have extensive knowledge of biology, chemistry and maths and enjoy breaking down complex concepts in a way that young minds can understand. I have also studied English Literature all the way up to A-level and am an avid reader so am confident in teaching english and humanities to students.

Willing to travel: Home Only

Experience: I have 3 years experience teaching english, maths, science, verbal reasoning and non-verbal reasoning to students from ages 5 -12 and enjoy teaching children in a way which is engaging and fun.

During my lessons I use a combination of worksheets and my own questions to teach methods and workout problems together.

For maths specifically, I breakdown topics by difficulty, starting off with simpler calculations to ensure the student understands what is being asked of them and then move on to more challenging Qs as I know for some students maths can be daunting!

For science, my lessons start by learning the breadth of the topic and ensuring they understand what we are trying to learn, why it is important and where relevant, how it is relates to our lives. Once a base understanding is achieved, I then explore the depth of the topics and use easy examples to break-up information that may be challenging.

The content is then consolidated by past paper questions so students can understand what this information looks like in practice and what exactly the exams are going to ask them.

All worksheets and past paper questions are then marked with the student so they can identify areas of weakness and understand how to accurately answer questions.

I then end lessons with quick fire questions to ensure that the student has understood what has been covered in the lesson and so I can identify what areas to go over in the future.

I always tailor my lessons and teaching style to suit the individual student to achieve more with each lesson and make lessons fun and engaging!

I aim to offer one-to-one, non-judgemental tutoring for students, so they can ask any and all questions they may be afraid to at school or in the classroom. Above all, I hope that with my tutoring students will build confidence in themselves and their academic ability!
