________________________________________________________________________
I am a retired teacher of Mathematics, recently moved to Somerset/Dorset border from Lincolnshire. I have taught in a variety of schools, my last twenty-five years as Head of a Successful Maths Department in a Leicestershire 11 - 16 comprehensive.
I offer quality teaching across Keystages 3 and 4 and at all ability levels. I work with pupils in a calm friendly manner encouraging the best from them whether it be catch-up, reinforcement or overcoming anxiety. My sessions will generally last a minimum of an hour, sometimes a little longer. I explain and demonstrate aspects of the current classroom topic or work through a separate program of study as needed to ensure thorough understanding and confidence. I will expect input during lessons and I will usually leave practice work but sessions will not involve my watching a pupil wading through lengthy set exercises.
I provide all necessary materials - paper, practice texts, past exam papers etc but it can be helpful to see examples of school work - exercise book, and test results.
I will teach from home or travel - if the latter, I will add £5 per lesson to my fee. Sessions are generally weekly but timing and frequency can be adapted to suit.
Availability: Afternoon/Evenings - Tuesday, Wednesday.
Willing to travel: 20 miles
Experience: Almost forty years of quality teaching in a variety of education establishments - the last 25 years as Head of a successful Department of Maths in a mixed, all ability, comprehensive school.

Andy has very recently just started tutoring my son and sessions are going really well. Andy puts him at ease, makes it fun and I know will be a fantastic tutor for him next year in preparation for his GCSEs

Andy has been (and continues to be) a great help to my daughter who is preparing for her GCSEs. He is very friendly and knowledgeable and has a great way of explaining maths so that my daughter understands and can apply the knowledge herself. Andy has supplied lots of resources including past papers, which has been really helpful. Andy has increased my daughter`s confidence and ability and I would definitely recommend him!

Mr Andy has been teaching our son for the last three months. He is always early for the lesson, and continues to teach sometimes up to 30 minutes extra without charging any extra fees. He never stops the lesson till the topic is covered thoroughly. He always comes very well prepared for the lessons.
Our son looks forward to his Maths lessons with Mr Andy, which speaks for itself about his teaching skills.
