Information about Shivani
My approach to tutoring is very interactive, I like to teach my students work and allow them to practice questions while I am close to hand in case they are stuck, to make sure they are fully understanding things before moving onto new topics. I like to have a friendly atmosphere between myself and the tutee which is not strained or too pressurising. I work on areas that the student has difficulty with and would like prior notice of what these topics are before hand so i can prepare. I may also where relevant give students other tips, i.e, revision websites, additional photocopies of worksheets if I have any, online tests they can do that get marked automatically, and may set them a little homework now and then. With younger children, spelling tests and reading books can be covered too.
I have tutored a pupil with a Statistics GCSE retake in which he was very happy with his new result. This was an intense 3 (8 hour) days of tutoring where we covered the entire module in depth with practice questions completed within the 24 hrs. I also recently tutored a student for their Mechanics 1 module at A-level and Core 4 for which she was extremely troubled with and underconfident. By the end of our 6 days of tutoring (3 days per subject, intense 8 hour days) she was able to achieve grade B in her past papers where before she was only achieving a U with a mock grade at school of 17%.

Experience: I was a member of a reading group 2008-2010 where I helped dyslexic students read. I was also part of an anti-bullying campaign 2008-2009 where students could approach me and tell me household problems or school issues they had and get confidential advice. I am also a regular babysitter so am comfortable with younger children. 2008-2010 I worked at a Kumon Centre teaching English to children under the age of 14 and teaching maths to all ages, helping with problems, teaching new solution methods and marking work.
