Information about Adam
I am a first class Mathematics graduate with a PhD in Mathematics (Thesis title: Conditioning of the weak-constraint variational data assimilation problem for numerical weather prediction.). I have over 18 years of tuition and mentoring experience with mainly GCSE, A-level and University level students.
I have 14 years experiences as a Scientists and post-doctoral researcher, having previously worked on various projects including; Predicting Solar winds via modelling Coronal mass ejections from the Sun for space weather, Mars weather research, and European Regional Reanalysis Uncertainty Quantification systems for weather forecasts.
I take a small number of select students each year, and close my doors once I have this number (no more than 4 usually).
I have 18+ years of experience tutoring and mentoring young adults and children ranging from 7-30 years old as a side venture while undertaking research projects simply because I love teaching! I am grateful for the privilege to contribute to the young minds of the future who have a thirst for knowledge.
I have taught all exam boards for A levels and GCSE students, including OCR MEI.
The levels I have taught range from 11+ (11 plus) candidates, those preparing for Maths challenges (all UKMTs, ie. Olympiad, IMC etc), GCSE, Cambridge STEP, A level Mathematics and Further Mathematics, and BSc. In addition to private tuition, I have also taught BSc students for 4 years while at University in lecture-supplementary class groups. The modules I am well versed are as follows:
Theory of Data Assimilation
Numerical Analysis
Finite Difference Techniques (particularly for Meteorological weather models, Oceans, etc)
Partial and Ordinary Differential Equations
Bayesian Theory and Statistics
Initial and Boundary Value Problems
Vector Calculus
Theory of Quantum Mechanics
I provoke excellence and tap into the strengths of my students by challenging them and allowing them to naturally evolve in a way best suited to their psychological architecture. I also have a track record of guiding people along their natural grain, pushing them towards their natural strengths.
I make an effort to make my lessons not only fun, but relatable to the real world. I create an interactive environment to keep them involved and make them feel that they are learning it themselves with me gently guiding their path.
Availability: Mon-Fri 9:00-16:00.
May do weekends for exceptional candidates (evenings).

Experience: 18+ years private tutoring experience.
7 years teaching University level students.
PhD Mathematics: Data Assimilation for Numerical Weather Prediction.
14 years at the frontier of scientific research with published articles. Can relate relevance of Science/Maths material to the real world.
Prepared students for 11 plus, UKMT Maths challenges (including Olympiad), GCSE, A level, STEP Cambridge exams. Further education - BSc and Masters (MSc) course assistance experience at University.
Presented Science not only to researchers and experts, but to all levels of the general public (Including Prisons!).
