Information about Margaret
I am a recently semi-retired ex Head of Biology and Head of Year 12. My aim in tutoring is to build the confidence needed to enjoy learning, improve the quality of understanding and therefore raise the grades achieved by my students. I offer a friendly, structured approach and use a variety of teaching methods tailored to the requirements of the particular student. My students have often told me that I explain things in simple ways and make them easy to understand.
I have worked with AQA and OCR exam boards and am well aware of the skills needed to achieve good grades. In large classes students may miss key concepts and sometimes they don`t have the confidence to ask for help. This can impair their understanding and so limit progress. I believe that individual tuition can often be the turning point on the road to success by providing a tailored approach to the particular needs of each student.
Availability: I am available weekdays and weekends during the day and evening.
Willing to travel: 8 miles
Experience: I have been a teacher for over 30 years and am semi- retired from a Head of Biology and Head of Year 12 role. I taught biology throughout the school up to A level (100% pass rate at GCSE and A level), physics KS2 to GCSE (100% pass rate) and can also offer maths help. I have successfully tutored students in biology for medical and Oxbridge places and have also helped students compile UCAS entries. I have BSc(Hons) Biological Sciences, PGCE and an enhanced DBS check.
DBS Check: Yes

Margaret is absolutely brilliant. She has a lovely approachable manner, builds a rapport with the student quickly and is very knowledgeable. Margaret has a natural talent for being able to adapt her teaching style to suit the student and always goes above and beyond what any other tutor would do.
