Information about Dahira

Hello! I’m Dahira – though I`m also known as Tahira outside of the classroom! I’m a qualified and highly experienced English language teacher and KS1–2 English tutor. I tutor both children and adults alike, native and non-native speakers, through lively personalised online lessons.

I adore both teaching and English itself! There’s nothing quite like the moment when a learner suddenly understands something they previously found tricky, and the thrill I feel seeing that happen. I enjoy getting to know my learners’ interests, goals, and learning preferences so that I can tailor lessons around them.

A big part of my approach is growth mindset psychology: I encourage learners to see challenges as opportunities and to celebrate progress, however small. This helps build confidence, resilience, and a genuine love for learning.

If you’d like English lessons that are engaging, effective, and designed to help you reach your goals, then I would love to hear from you!

Experience: Over the past 10 years, I have taught English as a second or other language, and employability skills to adult learners from a wide range of backgrounds. I have a track record of delivering outstanding lessons that engage all learners, meet diverse learning needs, and achieve real learning progress. In this role, I also had the privilege of mentoring trainee teachers and learning support assistants in the further education sector. Supporting other teachers to grow has been rewarding and has deepened my own commitment to continuous professional development.

Following my classroom role, I have also continued to tutor children in English across Key Stages 1–3, supporting them to significantly improve their reading, writing, grammar, and communication skills. Particular highlights of my role include turning around a reluctant learner’s attitude towards learning, boosting reading grades by several levels, and most importantly, sharing my enthusiasm for English and inspiring a genuine enjoyment of the subject.
