I am a highly experienced, effective and patient teacher, comfortable working 1-2-1 and with small groups. My SEND experience and expertise means that I can offer support and effective teaching to all students, even those who may experience difficulties with their learning and who are struggling in mainstream education.
Availability: Monday to Friday after 4pm during term time and also possibly at weekends and during school holidays, subject to individual tutees` needs and availability.
Willing to travel: 15 miles
Experience: I have over 30 years of teaching experience, mainly in mainstream secondary schools but also within specialist SEND and Inclusion settings. My subject specialisms are History and English but I am also able to teach Geography and R.E.
I have specialised in a variety of SEND roles for over 20 years and have wide experience of working with students with a range of SEND needs (including dyslexia, dyspraxia, SpLD, speech and language, autism, ASD, ADHD, OCD, social communication needs, sensory impairments and physical disabilities.) I have been a SENCO as well as a specialist SEND and Literacy teacher and I am proud of my ability to help my students overcome barriers to learning.

I found Nick through Tutor Hunt when I was researching tuition for my Son resitting his GCSE English. We wanted to boost our son`s chances 6 weeks before the exam date. Nick responded quickly via the portal and we arranged 6 in-person lessons at a convenient date and time. Nick quickly builds rapport, is straight forward, and encouraging. Nick recommended some resource and set work to do outside of the session. I valued that Nick wanted to receive the homework ahead of the next session so that he could bring his feedback into the conversation. This meant that the time together was highly valuable and productive. I believe Nick was genuinely invested in Will, as a mentor as much as a tutor and people often achieve more than they believe they can if someone else believes they can. The shift in mindset from Will was incredible, this was down to Nick`s expertise, empowerment and support. I would highly recommend Nick.

My son has just started with Nicholas and he loves the lessons. Assessed on the first lesson and tailored lessons accordingly. First tutor I`ve met in a long time who is well prepared, brings work targeted at the specific areas that need developing. Fun, kind, patient. Recomend him 100%
