Information about Dan
I am a specialist Sociology teacher with huge experience and expertise built up over a 20-year teaching career at sixth form level. My teaching philosophy aims to deliver not only high grades and major, measurable improvement in student performance but also an enjoyable experience.
Availability: I am available both weekdays and Saturdays.
Willing to travel: 10 miles
Experience: In addition to 20 years of sixth form teaching, I have considerable experience of tutoring both sixth formers and mature students on a one-to-one basis. The exam board whose syllabus I have taught in recent years is the AQA and the main topics covered include Families and Households, Education, Research Methods, `Culture and Identity`, Crime and Deviance, Beliefs in Society, `Stratification` and Theory and Methods. Crucially, my students have an excellent record of examination success both as sixth form students and individual tutees. In terms of qualifications, I hold a doctorate / PhD, an MA at distinction level, a PGCE teaching qualification (specialising in post-16 education) and a BA (Hons).
