Helping students to learn a new language is a hugely rewarding experience. Indeed, it allows them to experience a different culture as well as see their own identity from another perspective. As the French king Charlemagne has stated, “To have another language is to possess a second soul”. This is why I have undertaken a career in teaching.
I was raised in France and Belgium, allowing me the opportunity to be raised in a multilingual environment. After completing the European Baccalaureate in 2004, I completed my CELTA at the Nile Language School in Norwich. I found the course to be very enlightening in terms of understanding teaching theory and the development of good language teaching practice. In 2009, I moved to Japan to teach English to adults and children. I sometimes faced challenging situations when students struggled with grammar and spelling rules that were alien to their native tongue. Moreover, many felt self-conscious attempting to pronounce words in a foreign language. However, games and activities undertaken in a spirit of humour and dedication allowed students to enjoy the learning process. Students wishing to take my French lessons would benefit from my native pronunciation and in-depth knowledge of French culture, as well as my years of experience teaching foreign languages. I can also offer support with EAL (English as an Additional Language), having received formal training (CELTA) and worked in both secondary schools and language schools in this field. -Trained in both comprehensive and private schools in Monmouthshire during PGCE (Postgraduate Course in Education)
