I am a recent History graduate from Oxford University and have spent a year teaching History at City of London School. I offer tutoring in History and English Literature for all age groups up to A level, as well as tutoring all aspects of 11+ and 13+ examinations. I also provide tutoring in a wide range of Primary School subjects. Having recently graduated from Oxford, and scoring in the top 9% of all applicants in the admissions test, I also offer help with admissions test preparation, mock interviews and writing personal statements for all universities.

From my experience of teaching students aged 11-18, I strongly believe in bouncing ideas between the tutor and tutee. By investigating the student`s ideas and gently prompting them with questions, they are guided to the right answer whilst being encouraged to think independently. This approach also allows me to tailor my sessions to the student`s need and ensures that they have clarity in areas which they previously struggled in. I thoroughly enjoy seeing students become more confident in their work, which often leads to higher marks. I also place a great focus on exam technique and am willing to adapt sessions to suit particular exam board requirements.

Experience: I have spent the last year teaching History to various age groups at a London secondary school. I mainly taught year 7 but have also had some experience teaching GCSE classes. I also ran 1 on 1 sessions with students from year 12 and 13 which provided help for Oxbridge applications. I successfully helped 4 students get into Oxford last year for History. I also have experience in 1 on 1 tutoring for GCSE Students in English and History.

Other relevant experience:

2022/2023: As part of my job at City of London School, I coached football to children of all abilities aged between 11 and 18. I also mentored GCSE Drama students with their acting.

2019: I spent a summer working at a digital enterprise called Parentzone, which specialises in keeping children safe online. This involved contributing to a partnerships programme with google which empowered teachers to teach online safety to students.

2016: I volunteered with a charity called Cut Films which works with young people against smoking. I was involved in teaming up with the National Citizen Service to create short films which included interviews over the dangers of cigarettes.
