Information about Ben
I have always been a strong proponent of the role of education in forming a stable platform which will serve a young person well in life. I personally enjoyed my time at school and university very much and have always viewed myself as an academic person and I am motivated to help other people to achieve their educational goals and excel both in the classroom and beyond. I have a natural aptitude for conveying information verbally and on paper and a keen interest in other people and ensuring that they achieve their goals (perhaps stemming from having several social workers and teachers in my wider family). I am aware that there are many different ways in which people learn and therefore I am keen to get to know a potential tutee first before I devise a plan in which I can tutor them so as to ensure that the plan which I eventually choose caters to their needs as an individual and offers them the best opportunity for success in whatever they are being tutored for. My personal tutoring background is in Teaching English as a Foreign Language (TEFL), although I also have experience tutoring in A Level History. As a primarily visual learner myself, I am aware of my own biases towards this particular model and so I try to incorporate a degree of styles into my teaching (depending also on the level being taught), assessing which particular methods work well and then sticking with those. I am aware that my tutees may not have a great deal of time to complete assignments if they also have to attend school or university as well and as such I try to make my classes as knowledge dense as possible, while still allowing for fun with a humanist approach.
