Information about Gail
Hello, Im Gail and I enjoy having the opportunity to teach people English. It is an enormous pleasure to find new and exciting ways to teach English that help you to achieve your goals.
I am from London and have many interests such as film, books, hiking, theatre and play-writing.
Availability: Monday to Friday during the day or evening.
Willing to travel: 10 miles
Experience: I have worked with adults in a language department of a college to multi-lingual groups of students at different levels. I taught Upper-Intermediate to European students in London within a language club for 8 years and I have taught beginners and Elementary English to refugees on a one-to-one basis in their homes and in small groups for conversation. Occasionally I lead English Conversation Walks in different areas of London for students whose level is intermediate and above. These allow students to fully participate in developing their conversational language skills and gain in confidence.
I am happy to teach in your home or place of work. I also teach in cafés or other spaces (such as parks or interesting London buildings) when it can be useful to further develop grammar, vocabulary, conversation skills and confidence.
If you are keen to learn English and want lots of practice speaking to a native English speaker, I am sure that I can help you. I like to find interesting and exciting ways to learn English and sometimes I will suggest that we spend our hour in a café or museum or a short walk in a park (if it isnt raining, of course). This way, you will develop your vocabulary and conversation skills as well as enjoying some different places in London.
What are my qualifications:
University of Cambridge ESOL Level 5 Certificate in Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages (CELTA) at the higher B Grade.
University of Cambridge ESOL Level 4 Award in Preparing to Teach in the Lifelong Learning Sector (PTLLS) (this is the qualification needed to teach in further education colleges)
BA (Hons) English Literature and History
MA Children`s Literature
I have completed Continuing Professional Development courses at the Institute of Education, London for ESOL teaching skills in speaking, listening, reading and writing.
