I specialise in online Geography tutoring through Skype/Facetime. I have a strong focus on exam technique and I’m happy to set and mark exam answers to improve students’ technique. As a former exam marker and Head of Department, I can give some valuable insights into how to answer questions effectively, and how to work out what the mark scheme will look like so students can strive for full marks.

I also like to play word games in tutoring sessions to help to embed key terminology into a student’s vocabulary. Both physical and human topics have a large pool of key terms that need to be learnt and embedded into exam answers, so a lot of the focus will be on this.

I am currently working with students taking Geography on the OCR B GCSE, Cambridge International A Level, and Edexcel A2 syllabi, so I have an up to date knowledge of these courses. I’m happy to buy core text books and look at online resources for another syllabus if required.

Above all, I’m have a small pool of tutees so I can dedicate time to preparing resources for every tutoring session I have. This often means coming up with new resources that are designed for a specific tutee to get the best out of them, not being a full time teacher now has given me this time. I take my tutoring very seriously and will aim to improve grades for all the tutees I work with.

Experience: I was a Head of Geography for 2 years, and a teacher of Geography for 8 years. I had responsibilities with Gifted & Talented students and leading full school initiatives within thinking skills and modern teaching approaches. I have been a tutor for the past 3 years.
