Information about Jake

Hello! My name is Jake and I am a professionally qualified 1-1 tutor. I have been tutoring for the last few years both privately and in schools and I mainly focus on both Foundation and Higher Maths GCSE for OCR, AQA ad Edexcel (although I am happy to tutor in other subjects!). I have a flexible teaching style that allows me to help students of all age ranges, all the way from SATs to A Levels. I have an immense passion for maths but I know it can be challenging at times- however, with different techniques and approaches, I hope to make your learning more enjoyable and rewarding, and not to mention, help you achieve the grade you deserve.

I take an evidence-based approach and would first like to discuss the student`s strengths and weaknesses before making a checklist/ plan of action. This methodical approach I have found particularly useful with medium to long-term students as we can tackle topics you need to work on the most and the ones which are most common. With friends who are other maths teachers/ examiners, we have collectively compiled resources for both revision and practice across the 3 major GCSE exam boards- all of which my previous students have found especially useful. I like to reinforce in-hours learning with targeted but short homework in the style of practice questions so students can quickly learn how to approach questions and apply the correct knowledge. Over time, I learn how my students respond to different approaches and tailor my lessons in accordance with their level and particular learning styles.

I prefer tutoring in person (I am happy to come to you!) as I feel it is easier to establish a personal relationship, however, I am more than happy to teach online.

Thank you for taking the time to view my profile, and please feel free to message me with any questions you have!
