Information about Alice
Im a qualified Secondary Maths Teacher (ECT2) with a BSc from the University of Warwick and specialist experience teaching GCSE Maths on the Edexcel exam board. I also hold a Level 2 Children and Young Peoples Mental Health qualification and I am fully DBS checked.
I have two years of teaching experience in a diverse secondary school in the heart of Nuneaton, where many students face additional barriers to learning. In this environment I quickly progressed within the department, taking a leading role in rewriting the KS4 curriculum and creating high-quality, accessible GCSE resources. This strengthened my ability to support a wide range of learners, raise achievement, and design structured, exam-focused content.
Outside school, I also teach children and adults at an aerial arts studio, including classes specifically designed for autistic and neurodivergent students. This experience has deepened my expertise in sensory-aware instruction, emotional regulation support, and building calm, inclusive learning environments where anxious learners can thrive.
As someone with lived experience of ADHD and autism (self-identified/awaiting diagnosis), I bring both genuine empathy and practical understanding to my teaching. My sessions are calm, structured, predictable, and designed to reduce overwhelm ideal for learners who need clarity, routine, and reassurance.
My teaching approach is clear, highly scaffolded, and rooted in explicit modelling and step-by-step examples. I use an I do We do You do structure to build independence, ensuring students always feel supported as their confidence grows.
I also specialise in teaching students how to decode and interpret exam questions, identify command words, break down complex phrasing, and understand exactly what the examiner is asking essential for success with Edexcel.
I excel in:
Adaptive teaching tailored to individual needs
Supporting SEND, neurodivergent, and anxious learners
Behaviour management and de-escalation
Sensory-aware and trauma-informed practice
Creating calm, inclusive, and hardworking learning environments
Clear modelling, scaffolding, and example-led teaching
Curriculum design and high-quality resource creation
