Information about Alana

I am a third year medical student studying at the Norwich Medical School at University of East Anglia.
I am an experienced science tutor, specialising in Biology and Chemistry. I always aim to make the sessions focused, supportive and productive and tried to make explanations clear and easy to follow.

I always listen to feedback given by my students in order to tailor the sessions to their needs. In feedback from previous students, they reported the sessions were `productive` and `helpful` and I seemed `to understand what` they `were going through` and my `really friendly` approach `helped relieve pressure and stress`.

A parent reported that I am `incredibly organized, diligent and professional` and I `explained the subjects... in such a simple and straightforward manner that his test scores increased enormously`. I can provide a full reference from a previous student on request.

I am very excited about the opportunity to support young people with their science studies and to be the helping hand I wish I had!

Availability: I am available most of the time due to the COVID-19 situation.

Willing to travel: 8 miles

Experience: I achieved an A* in chemistry and biology at A level and 13 A*s at GCSE, including 100% and 99.5% in my biology and chemistry GCSEs respectively.
I am an experienced Biology and Chemistry tutor, having supported many students through their studies.
I was a peer assisted learning tutor at university last year for first year medics.
I am currently one of the workshop leads for UEA Headucate, a society which delivers workshops in schools about mental health.

5/5 Rating

Alana arrived on time to the lesson, she was smartly dressed and very polite. She was really friendly and my son was immediately relaxed and at ease. Alana took time to understand areas where support was needed and put in place a structure, talking about how she is going to help and support. Alana spent time and was really patient to explain carefully and checked understanding. At the end she did an recap and discussed areas for my son to work on until the next lesson. I was really impressed with how professional and personable she was, she has a lovely way and I am really positive about her ability to support and help my son achieve his full potential.
