Information about Kay
I believe that teaching is about connecting with your pupils by having a sense of humour, an acute understanding of how to approach examinations and knowing that your pupils are so much more than assessment scores- although that’s what I aim to improve!
At my current school, I was the Head of Drama and English teacher. ver, after maternity leave, I decided to step down as Head of Department and am now an English KS3 and KS4 teacher, working three days a week.
My school tends to allocate me the more challenging classes because I am able to teach a range of abilities but also, I believe in creating resources and lesson styles that are individual to the pupils and establish an environment that encourages enjoyment of the lessons and subject. This has been a success since I started teaching as every year, the majority of my pupils have achieved their grades (FFT and above) and I somewhat enjoy the ‘my class received the highest grades’ dance on GCSE results day!
ver, this type of success takes dedication, responsibility and determination- not only to help my pupils succeed but to find ways that they can absorb, use and (hopefully) enjoy the skills that I am teaching them. This is something that I am tremendously proud to do and I look forward to helping you in the future!
