Information about John
Hello, I am fully qualified with an Oxford University Mathematics Degree and PGCE teaching qualification. I am also Enhanced DBS Checked, and tutor Key Stages 2-3 / GCSE / A Level.
At A level, I mainly focus on Pure and Mechanics, but do not teach A level Further Maths.
My lessons last an hour and take place weekly; when booking, please choose a time which is convenient each week, though there is no minimum commitment at any stage.
I have a flexible, encouraging and patient approach; my tuition is interactive and adaptive to students’ needs, including exam preparation and practice, and is also used to target specific topics as required.
Students have become more confident with their maths, and have attained successful results at both GCSE and A level.
I find it very rewarding when students enjoy their learning and develop their mathematical understanding and abilities. They can make good progress when they are able to focus on different topics in a one-to-one format at their own pace.

Experience: With a decade of classroom teaching and over 10 years of tutoring, both face to face and online, I have over 20 years’ experience to draw on, teaching the full range of ages and abilities. John has been tutoring my son since August 2014. My son has always enjoyed maths but has failed to reach the grades which had previously been predicted. In the short period that John has been with us, my son has advanced by one whole grade and is predicted `A` grades in his GCSE in the summer, in addition to this his teacher has commented that he is her favourite pupil and that he can "see things" in maths that other students can`t.
I believe that this is down to John`s approach, which is respectful,and calm and gives the student`s choices whilst guiding them to achieve understanding and success.
