Information about Nina

I am a friendly, empathetic and experienced tutor with a genuine passion for understanding what makes my students tick and how to help young people engage in their subject and achieve their best.

I have over four years of experience tutoring English (KS2- A-level) and Psychology (GCSE and A-level) to students of all levels. Since graduating in English Literature from UCL, I`ve began studying a masters degree in Psychology, giving me strong knowledge of both subjects. I combine good knowledge of my subject areas, with a desire to help students gain an understanding of the subject and improve their grades and confidence in learning. Over the course of my career as a tutor, I have worked with students from all ages (youngest 6, oldest 57) and am able to provide help for many kinds of needs from revision guidance to homeschooling.

Behind all of my teaching, I am looking to find the needs of the individual student and how best to work with these. In the first session I usually spend time getting to know the student and asking about their educational history and interests before an informal assessment. We then come up with a plan of how to move forward in their tutoring sessions, and a study plan is made (if suitable).

Outside of private tutoring, I have also worked as an academic teacher with Oxford Royale Academy, where I taught classes of international students extra-curricular English Literature and Creative Writing. I really enjoyed my time here and the feedback I received from both students and mentor teachers here was astounding- students who had never enjoyed or been interested in English before told me what a great time they were having, and I received top marks in all of my assessed teaching observations.
