Information about Holly
I qualified as a Primary teacher in 2013 and have taught predominately in Key Stage 1 ever since. I have been teaching at an outstanding Infant school and I have been the Maths lead for the school. I can tutor Key Stage 1 Maths, Writing (including Spelling, Grammar, Punctuation and handwriting) and Reading (Phonics and comprehension).
I pride myself on getting to know the children extremely well and use this to teach them in a style and context that is supportive and engaging to their individual needs. I like to keep teaching fresh and fun, with lots of practical hands on learning for younger Key Stage 1 children. I believe a child must feel confident and that their progress is achievable for them. I encourage children to have a growth mindset and I will help them to build resilience to try, try and try again!
Availability: Monday and Thursday after school (3:15pm-5:30pm).
Willing to travel: 10 miles
Experience: I qualified as a Primary teacher in 2013 and decided during this time that I would like to concentrate on teaching in Key Stage 1. In schools I have been a Year 1 and Year 2 class teacher, so I have experience of supporting children for Phonics Screening and the end of Key Stage 1 assessments. I have also been the Maths lead for the school and have experience of teaching Reception class. I have a lot of experience teaching Phonics and really enjoy this. During my last year teaching Year 1, I received a letter from the Department for Education to congratulate the school on the outstanding Phonics Screening results, which were in the top 10% of the the country.
As a private tutor I have taught Maths, Phonics, reading comprehension, spelling and handwriting for Reception children to Year 4 children. I make sure that the children`s individual learning needs are being met, ensuring that planning is progressive and in line with the National Curriculum. I always give regular weekly feedback to the parents throughout our time together. I am also happy to work on specific targets or areas for development suggested by the child`s school teacher.
