I have a degree in English Literature from Cambridge (I was at Christ`s College - notable alumni include John Milton, Charles Darwin, J C Bose, Louis Mountbatten, Simon Schama), and a DMus in Composition from the RCM. Needless to say, I have a profound love and knowledge of English (and world, especially German) Literature, but am also literate in Science, dislike boundaries between disciplines and like to draw connections between them. I write poetry and novels, and encourage creativity in students whenever I see it.

Experience: I have been helping students to reach their potential - many A*s or 9s in GCSE in GCSE English Literature and Language, and A*s in A level English Literature for nigh on 18 years. I have also taught classes in Shanghai. Nearly all my students (and their parents) have given me 5* ratings. I`m a clear, interesting - and, I hope, entertaining - tutor, and eloquent interpreter of the texts we are studying - and of
course I encourage students to read eloquently and want to hear them defend their interpretations too! I encourage students to bullet-point their essays to clarify their argument in advance - and to personalise their responses. To show real engagement with the text is absolutely the best way to triumph in your exams.
