I have more than 32 years of teaching experience in the area of business management, accounting and finance with various universities in New Zealand and the UK. During the last 25 years, I have been an examiner for various professional Accounting bodies in the UK. I have also been a visiting tutor for various institutions of higher education in Singapore, Malaysia and Oman.

Experience: My approach to tutoring is student-led, to ensure the needs of each individual tutee are met. Whether it be exam content or exam skills that students wish to focus upon I have a wide bank of resources to suit any learning style. My aim as a tutor is to create in my students a deep understanding and confidence in answering exam questions and being able to tackle new and unfamiliar problems. My philosophy is based on the idea that learning happens in an environment of mutual respect in which the student is encouraged to think and make new connections for themselves.
My experience has been that one-to-one personal tuition has a unique value to students because of the ability to resolve the students’ personal barriers to learning in a way that lays the foundations for a deep and lasting understanding of the subject.
As each student is different my approach will vary depending on the student`s specific needs. I tailor a programme of work to address the weaknesses and aspirations of each student. This can range from an in-depth study of specific modules to exam technique and question practice. I incorporate regular reviews and time for reflection and feedback which I believe adds flexibility, consolidates learning and provides a clear path to a students ultimate goal.
