I have over 25 years of experience teaching English in schools and colleges, specialising in A Level English Literature. I’ve worked as a teacher and a head of department. I am also an experienced AQA examiner and coursework moderator, which gives me a deep understanding of what students need to succeed in their exams. My students consistently achieve outstanding results, reflecting my commitment to high standards and individual progress.
I hold a first-class master’s degree in English Literature and have always been passionate about the subject.
Alongside teaching, I’ve written plays that have been performed at The Lowry Theatre in Salford and The Other Palace in London’s West End.
In my spare time, I enjoy reading, creative writing, music, exercising at the gym, and walking in the countryside.

David has been invaluable in helping my son prepare for his A-level English exams. David has helped identify key tracts of text and enabled my son to fully understand key components of the author`s style, use of imagery and so on. David`s tutoring style has been effective; each tutor lesson has been an exploration of the texts, and his conversational style has really helped in developing knowledge and understanding of the texts. I would heartily recommend David as a tutor, my son is now able to approach his exams with more confidence and self-belief.
