I studied Classics with Latin and Greek at Oxford University, securing an MA in 2009. I subsequently completed a PGCE at Buckingham University. I have taught for several years at three leading independent schools and I am currently Head of the Classics department. This means that I have extensive experience and knowledge of examination board requirements and am fully versed in the specification changes at GCSE and A Level.

I am a passionate subject teacher of Latin, Classical Greek and Classical Civilisation and take pride in inspiring a love of these subjects in my students. I am friendly, caring and professional in my approach.

Alongside developing a love of the subject, students must also learn the skills required for public examination. I have 100% pass rate for all pupils I have entered for examination and a key part of my teaching is regular feedback and targets for improvement. My teaching will always be tailored to the individual`s needs and requirements.

In summer 2019 my A Level results were 100% A* in Latin, 100% A in Classical Greek, and in Classical Civilisation were 100% A* - A with 50% of pupils achieving an A*.

In summer 2019 my GCSE results in Latin were 100% 8-9 with 33% of students achieving 9. In Classical Greek 100% 6-9 with 83% of pupils securing 7+.

Availability: Evenings and weekends. I would prefer to tutor at home but will travel if it is on my normal commute.

Experience: I have taught Latin to GCSE level for OCR and WJEC/Eduqas to A Level for OCR examination. I have taught Classical Greek to GCSE and A Level for OCR examination. Finally I have taught Classical Civilisation to GCSE and A Level for both OCR and AQA examination boards. My degree was in both Latin and Classical Greek.

I have been an OCR A Level examiner for Classical Civilisation and a GCSE examiner for Latin.

Papers I have taught for OCR Classical Civilisation GCSE - Myth and Religion and City Life: Rome, but can support any paper studied.

Papers I have taught at Classical Civilisation AS - Homer`s Odyssey and Greek Tragedy in its context.

Papers I have taught at Classical Civilisation A2 - Virgil and the world of the hero, Greek Art and Architecture, AQA Greek Tragedy.

For the reformed Classical Civilisation A Level I will be available to support World of the Hero, Greek Drama or Greek Art.
