Information about Heather

I am a qualified teacher, with experience teaching in both Primary and Secondary schools. Having catered for a wide range of age groups and specific learning needs, I have gained valuable experience in tailoring my teaching to suit the specific educational needs of pupils. As a result, I have been successful in helping students to make accelerated progress in their learning and to prepare effectively for testing and exams.

After completing my Bachelor of Education degree in 2013, I moved from Canada to the UK and began teaching in the south of England. Alongside teaching, I have several years experience as a tutor to primary school children, helping them to improve their Maths and Literary skills. In 2020, I earned a Cambridge certificate in teaching English as an additional language (CELTA) and enjoyed teaching English to students all around the world, with a wide variety of native languages, via Zoom during my teacher training. As a result, I am very experienced and comfortable running tutoring sessions online, if this is more convenient for tutees and their families.

I have a keen interest in helping students with special educational needs and disabilities, determining how each child learns best and helping to build their confidence in the process. I always design my resources based on each student`s specific learning needs.

Availability: I am willing to travel to students who live locally to me (Romsey/North Baddesley and surrounding area). A small charge will be added to my advertised hourly rate, to cover travel expenses.
