Experience: I have a degree in Computing and Information Systems and I am currently the head of Faculty and teaching computer science at GCSE and A-Level. I have been teaching computer science for the last ten years and I have been an examiner for several exam boards for at least eight years. I have a good understanding of how students learn, the difficulties they encounter with exam questions, problem-solving as well as revision.

In terms of results, as a teacher, I have on average achieved between 65 - 75% 9-4 which is above the national average for AQA and this includes many students with a target of 2 / 3 and some students with English as a second language.
In terms of tutoring, I have, over the years tracked some of the data and listed below:
100% 9 - 5 (A* - C+)
100% 9 - 6 (A* - B)
70% 9-7 (A* - A)
So far I have had 25 students achieve a grade 9. 20+ students achieve a grade 8. 40+ students achieving a grade 7.
I tutor the following specifications:
KS3
GCSE (OCR, AQA, Edexcel)
A-Level (Edexcel, OCR)
At GCSE level majority of students achieve 3 grade jumps in as little as 16 weeks, with some getting 4 or 5. Those already with a current grade of 6 achieve an 8 or a 9.
At A Level, on average 2.5 grades jump.
I set homework regularly, the first 5-10 minutes is reviewing homework, identifying misconceptions and students find this very useful.
I then model a topic, get the students to answer specific questions to check understanding and then focus on exam questions. This process ensure modelling is used, repetition and getting used to tbr language as well as developing confidence.
