I am a very friendly and approachable teacher with over 20 years experience teaching KS3 GCSE and A Level. I work on confidence and resilience as well as skills and find that all my pupils start to develop or increase their enjoyment of maths as a result.

Experience: I like to start lessons with a few questions based on previous topics to help ensure you are remembering content as we go along. If you`ve forgotten anything we`ll go over it again and I`ll check it again next lesson.

Then we`ll check you can do any of what I call necessary prior knowledge. These are topics that will make it easier to learn the new main content of the lesson. If you need some more help or practice with these topics then that`s what we`ll do.

Then it`s time to start the main part of the lesson. I`ll show you an example then give you a similar one to try. We`ll do this for a few different examples and then I`ll let you try some questions on your own when I`m confident you have understood and are getting most of your questions correct. We`ll then mark your work and go over anything you`ve struggled with.

Once I`m happy you can do standard type questions on this topic we`ll try some problem solving and reasoning type questions as these are very important in developing a deeper understanding as well as being very popular in exams.

Finally we`ll finish with a mixed set of practice questions on the topic from the lesson plus previous topics mixed in. This again helps to make sure you don`t forget anything and also gives you practice that is similar to how your exams will be.

This lesson format also helps to break the lesson up into chunks which should help you to stay focussed and engaged and enjoy the lesson more.
