Information about Tim

I am a qualified secondary school science teacher and experienced tutor with a proven track record of raising the grades of the students I work with. I have taught all three sciences to GCSE have access to a wealth of resources to aid students in their learning.

I pride myself on my patient and caring attitude and on not having a one size fits all approach to learning. I believe in working alongside my students to help them address their misconceptions and boost their understanding then reinforcing this through overlearning and careful questionning. This is further supported through written work which can be set as homework depending on the wishes of the parent and child.

Availability: I am currently available Monday or Tuesday evenings from 6pm.

Willing to travel: 5 miles

Experience: Over the last 20 years I have taught science at several good secondary schools across South Yorkshire.
More recently I have tutored maths and science across KS2, KS3 and KS4 often working with the same students through secondary school and supporting them to achieve the grades they deserve. I have a track record of being able to support young people move from lower sets in science to achieving grades 8 and 9 at GCSE.

Alongside teaching I have also worked in schools supporting students on both the 6/7 and 3/4 grade boundaries to achieve the grades they need to access the courses they deserve at post-16.
More recently, alongside tutoring, I have worked as an assistant educational psychologist supporting neurodivergent and anxious young people get the support they need to access their education in schools across Sheffield. As such, I have knowledge and experience at engaging and motivating all learners regardless of their ability or mental health.
