Information about Harrison

I offer two services.

Firstly, I provide editing advice for writers, whatever level they are at and regardless of the type of piece, whether it is an extract from a novel, an article for a magazine, or academic material. I am a published author recently referred to as one of the most prolific writers working in Scotland. As well as this, I have been responsible for editing three books for a software company.

Secondly, I offer tutoring assistance for science students from GCSE to A-Level. I have an MSc in Biotechnology from Heriot-Watt University and a BSc Honours in Microbiology from the University of Dundee. Recently, I have obtained a PGCE in Chemistry. With experience of working in the brewing and biotechnology industries, alongside teaching experience, I have a wide-scoping knowledge of the sciences and the skills to communicate it.

Availability: I am available from 09:00 to 19:00 Monday to Friday.

Willing to travel: 50 miles

Experience: My first taste in teaching was with GoCamp in Ukraine in July 2017, working with students from 15 to 17 years of age. I gained a lot of inspiration from my time there and decided to turn teaching into a career.
During my time in Vietnam, I developed my skills, teaching English to students from 6 to 15 years of age. I thoroughly enjoyed interacting with all of the students. Each age category had rewards and challenges of its own. I became a highly-respected teacher, both amongst my students and my colleagues. My enthusiasm for the job led to early offers of contract extension and promotion from my employers.
My primary ambition is to make science more accessible and enjoyable for the next generation. By taking advantage of my passion for science, I believe that I can successfully encourage young people to engage with science and technology. I am highly motivated, driven and dedicated to inspiring young people.
Beyond my scientific background, I am also a published writer, and have a wide range of interests in outdoor sports and activities. I believe that these interests will provide me with a broader perspective on life which will be highly beneficial in my teaching career.
