Information about Vasilis

I was born in Greece and lived there until I was 25. I have finished school in 2010 with very good grades at all my core lessons. After school I went to university to study Pedagogy in Primary education with a life dream to become a teacher. I have always loved teaching so that was an opportunity for me that I had to embrace. During my time in university I have learned a lot of things about teaching approaches and how can every individual learn in a different way from another. Also I have been taught to respect every person that I teach no matter the age or the ability of learning. After university I had to complete my army duties for almost a year as this is mandatory to my country. On 2015 the “road trip” of teaching started for me. At first point I have searched and found eventually some clients for private tutoring, helping primary students to get en gagged with core subject such as Greek modern language and literature or Maths that they were struggling. I am pleased to admit that even the lower level students managed to reach their potentials or even better than that. I have also worked on 1:1 basis with an autistic pupil at school environment to help him understand the lesson and improve his social skills at the same time. Since I came in UK I started working as a support worker but I kept doing online lessons with some students in Greece for Maths and Greek language. My second year in UK I have changed job in order to improve my career and meet new experience, so I started working as an LSA in a Secondary school which gave me the opportunity to know the curriculum much better and practice it more with my students on my tutoring. I kept working as a private tutor helping UK students with their Maths or Spanish subject. As a qualified teacher with a QTS I can also help primary students with their English and Maths, very effectively and I have plenty of approaches to use in order to help them. Also my Master degree in special education gives me the opportunity to be able to understand and differentiate the lesson to each individual`s needs. In addition to that I work as a class teacher in a Greek school, teaching Y3 students. My passion for Greek language is very high so I have also taught 4 adults the secrets of my language and all of them they were en gagged since we started. My teaching philosophy is based on the development of every individual, through building its self-confidence and self-esteem. I know I can offer valuable learning experiences to every student I work with. I encourage genuine parental involvement for pupils. I have high and realistic expectations of every student, to enable them to reach their full potential and behave in a suitable manor. At the start of each topic, I ask open-ended questions to allow me to find out what the student already knows about a topic and from this I plan where I should take it from and which areas of learning need extending. I have a nice and approachable structure for my lessons and many sou

Experience: I have 5 years experience of teaching subjects in 3 different languages(Greek, English, Spanish). More specifically, I have taught Greek language and literature, Spanish language, English language and liteatute, Maths and History sometimes. I have worked with all the age range from 6 to 18+ years old. During my career as a tutor I have dealt with difficult SEN cases of students. More specifically I have worked and seen progress in students with autism and Severe learning difficulties. I have also helped a student with learning difficulties raise his grades and pass his exams when he was commited that he will fail. I believe that psychology has a very important role in education and my knowledge on that field has helped me a lot dealing with my students` needs.
