Information about Steve

Hello, I am currently a qualified Teacher of Maths and Engineering with QTS in UK Secondary education 11-19.
I have also held the position of Head of Faculty / Department and Head of Year. I have authored published text books and interactive content. I work closely with exam boards.

I offer personal tuition in the following subjects online through Microsoft Teams.

Maths - From Entry Level 1 to Functional Maths to KS3 onto GCSE / A level. Ages - 7 to Adult.
Exam boards : Edexcel, AQA, WJEC, OCR, iGCSE.

Engineering / Design & Technology : GCSE / A- level / Level 3. Ages - 14 to Adult.
Exam boards : Edexcel, AQA, WJEC, OCR, iGCSE.

CAD: AutoCAD - Computer Aided Design - For Buildings / Architecture / Services.
Inventor / Fusion / Onshape - 3D CAD for Solid Models / STL.
2D Design Vector Graphics for Artwork / Publications / Corporate Presenations.

I enjoy enabling rapid learning progress in students of all ages that have otherwise found barriers to progress for one reason or another.

I break things down to the simple basics so students can really get to understand what might of been missed or misunderstood.

My approach to learning is very supportive and nuturing, through praise and encouragement. I provide learning in a structured, safe environment that enables learners to feel confident, happy and motivated to learn.

I have ambitious standards and i expect learners to work hard for me and complete work to best effort.
I am a mature teacher, reliable and punctual, and interested in my students progress and learning in their subjects.

I use various forms of learning methods. Online i use live interactive content so you can very clearly see and learn visually as examples of concepts are illustrated live step by step. Learning is indiviuually paced at the learners level.
Learning is personalised and content is levelled with the learners needs and aspirations.
Feedabck on pogress is honest and constructive.

I work with exam boards and have experience with AQA, OCR, NCFE, WJEC, EDEXCEL.

I find it best to discuss with the students their learning needs, then create an `Individual Learning Plan` with targets we can work towards. I do like to encourage learners to do their best, learn through doing (kinesthetic) and working out answers. Students can feel in control of their learning, and see their progress in their Individual Learning Plans which can be shown to parents and adapted to suit the needs of the learner, either in long term courses or short intensive sets of lessons.

I develop learning through the process of telling a story. Less of a focus on incorrect answers with the emphasis on mastering the process of getting there, is often the key - and realising where learning issues lie.

Once misconceptions and misunderstandings are identified , new learning connections are made that enable learners to produce the correct answers quickly with confidence.

I use Teams to communicate online lessons altghough can use other mediums if needed.

Steve made GCSE maths subject matter easily understandable and relevant with practical examples! Made engineering links to help with understanding. Lesson was delivered online in bite size parts so format was easy to follow. Highly recommended, worked well for me. Individual learning plan was established. Steve also provided a detailed powerpoint of the concepts and further worked examples for future reference with additional questions. Easy and clear online communication and reassuring! Will book more lessons! Thanks.
