Information about Steve

Hello, selecting a learning style that suits your needs with a tutor who can not only communicate the subject content clearly but also teach techniques and strategies of how to break down and answer subject specific questions is very important to learning a subject at a deeper level. This in turn leads to exam success.

I have taught 30 years with UK Qualified Teacher Status (QTS). Working in the UK education sector. I have held the position of Head of Faculty / Department and Head of Year. I have authored published text books by Heinemann and Dorling Kindersley on Engineering in Design Technology. I have worked for OCR, AQA and BTEC as a examiner and subject moderator.

I offer personal tuition in the following subjects.

Maths upto GCSE
Engineering A level / Level 3.

Maths : 1-9 GCSE / IGCSE, Maths Functional Skills - Entry Level / level 1/2
Exam boards : Edexcel, AQA, WJEC, OCR . Cambridge.

A Level : Engineering - Design Engineering OCR, BTEC Level 3 Engineering - Extended national Diploma

Methodology : I enjoy enabling rapid learning progress in students that have otherwise found barriers to progress for one reason or another. I break concepts down to the simple basics so students can really get to understand what might of been missed or misunderstood.

My approach to learning is very supportive and nuturing, through praise and encouragement. I provide learning in a structured, safe environment that enables learners to feel confident, happy and motivated to learn.

I have ambitious standards and i expect learners to work hard for me and complete work to best effort.
I am a mature teacher, reliable and punctual, and interested in my students progress and learning in their subjects.

I use various forms of learning methods. Online i use live interactive content so you can very clearly see and learn visually as examples of concepts are illustrated live step by step. Learning is individually paced at the learners level. Learning is personalised and content is levelled with the learners needs and aspirations. Feedback on progress is honest and constructive.

I find it best to discuss with the students their learning needs, then create an `Individual Learning Plan` with targets we can work towards. I do like to encourage learners to do their best, learn through doing (kinesthetic) and working out answers. Students can feel in control of their learning, and see their progress in their Individual Learning Plans which can be shown to parents and adapted to suit the needs of the learner, either in long term courses or short intensive sets of lessons.

My students have acheived exam success through my tuition over time. Please send a message to discuss your needs and how i can support them.

Regards
Steve

Cannot recommend Steve highly enough. He has been great with my son on his BTEC Engineering course. Takes the time to make my son feel comfortable and at ease and takes him through at a pace that works for the student. His follow up notes are also extensive and hugely helpful. Thanks for all your hard work.

Steve has been a fantastic help to my son Dan with his Engineering A Level over the last year. He has explained all the key concepts and the mathematics involved very well, which means that my son is now going into his exams feeling much more confident and with a far stronger understanding of the subject. I would highly recommend Steve for this subject.
