Information about Joshua
I have worked in some of the top independent schools in the UK, and am now an Affiliated Lecturer at the University of Cambridge, having studied Spanish, Latin and English literature at the university myself. I have worked in the Education sector for over ten years, and have thousands of hours of teaching and tutoring under my belt.
I aim to make sessions enjoyable and practical, especially for younger learners, to ensure the language or literature being covered is fun and relevant to the learner as well as beneficial to their academic development. I will always try to contextualise any learning, and like to encourage wider reading and practice as part of my tutoring.
Aside from work, I have travelled extensively and also run sports teams and community events in my local area. As a British national raised in Spain near the French border, I`m very familiar with multilingual environments.
Availability: Available most weekdays and Saturday mornings
Willing to travel: 8 miles
Experience: I am now an Affiliated Lecturer at the University of Cambridge, alongside private teaching and educational consultancy.
I have worked both as a classroom teacher and private tutor, the former in two top independent UK schools and the latter as part of private arrangements and with a well-known provider of Easter revision courses. I have also taught ESL online and in summer courses.
Some of my tutees have kindly offered reviews for me:
"Joshua is an excellent teacher, with a lot of experience and the ability to explain grammar and vocabulary very clearly (much better than my previous teachers!). He has developed a wide range of teaching materials which are very helpful. I`m enjoying my lessons with him!"
"Joshua has helped my son to develop a deeper understanding of spoken French, working with him to improve his vocabulary and general understanding. This has in-turn improved my sons confidence in this subject enormously. Joshua has been very flexible in the times that he teaches and has always been very professional and organised in his teaching, providing us with detailed feedback after each lesson."
"We very much appreciated your tutoring this year. You were well organised, gave prompt and concise feedback and gave (the student) the confidence he needed to be able to address some of the questions better. Thank you. We felt that with your help he would be better able to give his best in the exam."

Feedback For Joshua (4)
Excellent! Very well organised tutor who knows exactly what is needed.
Joshua has taught my daughter for 4 lessons so far and she is enjoying her tutoring. Joshua is friendly, patient and calm and is definitely helping to build her confidence. He is organised and flexible, and is happy to tailor lessons to topics my daughter requests and feels she needs to work on. He explains the language and grammar in a way that is easy for her to understand. He also provides useful feedback in an email on what they have covered and what homework he has set. I would happily recommend him.
Joshua is a great teacher. Tailored teaching content based on students` needs. All my 21 students are very happy with Joshua. And they said they learnt a lot from him.
Joshua has just started working with our two KS3 children following many helpful email exchanges regarding how best to proceed. We are delighted with how the arrangement has started and are looking forward to watching the children progress. We would certainly recommend Joshua`s services to other parents.
