Information about Brigid
I am a fully qualified teacher, experienced SENCO, Level 7 SpLD Teacher for students with Dyscalculia/mathematical difficulties and diagnostic assessor for dyscalculia. I teach both Maths and English from Reception Year upwards and am familiar with the 11+ and Common Entrance exam requirements. Following baseline assessment which provides information on the pupil`s individual learning profile, I use a multi-sensory, activity-based teaching approach to effect understanding and progress. In addition to bespoke teaching, I support students with developing sound study skills which prepare them for exams in both the primary and secondary phases. I teach the skills and strategies required to support students to develop greater confidence and reduce anxiety.
I use specialist assessments to establish a picture of need and develop a teaching plan bespoke to each students individual learning profile. I ascertain the point at which a child or young person`s learning progress is secure, and I work from there, building on understanding and progress as well as addressing any gaps in learning which in turn, leads to increased self-confidence in the student.
Availability: I am available Monday to Friday during the day and in the evening.
Willing to travel: Home Only
Experience: With twenty years experience of supporting children and young people with a broad range of learning challenges in both State and Independent schools as well as tutoring, I have a wealth of knowledge of the strategies and pathways that support students to experience academic success and achieve increased self-confidence. I have extensive experience of supporting students with or without an EHCP and I have provided advice, support and training to schools on developing strategies for SEND support in whole-class, small group and one-to-one settings.

Feedback For Brigid (1)

Brigid is a great teacher. She is patient and always finds a way to make her pupils focus without getting bored. Even with my 8-year boy who gets distracted and bored easily, she keeps him focused. It`s been only 4 lessons but I can see the improvement already. My son also got motivated believing he can do better after these private lessons. She is definitely a specialist for children with special education needs. Thanks TutorHunt for introducing us to Brigid.
