Hi, my name is Alex. I am currently looking to take on students for online lessons or within a short distance of Tavistock.

I believe the ultimate aim of tutoring is to develop students into autonomous rners. I aim to give the students the strategies and skills they need for successful independent rning. Each student is unique and I adapt my approach dependent on individual needs. Understandably, many students are focused on their attainment in an upcoming exam and this requires significant focus on past exam papers and exam technique. Typically, I would cover more subject knowledge in earlier lessons and over time would transition to an exam practice focus.

Availability: I am available from Saturday to Tuesday, both daytime and evenings.

Experience: I graduated from Bristol University in 2011 with a BSc in geoscience. Whilst at Bristol university I used to teach second-year undergraduates thermodynamics. After graduating I spent some time conducting post-graduate research at Bristol before working in industry. In 2016 I completed the Teach First program where I taught in a secondary school, whilst gaining my PGCE. Most recently, I have taught chemistry from 11-18 in an Ofsted-rated `outstanding` school. I have covered many specifications in the past, but I am most familiar with AQA at GCSE and OCR A at A-level.
