Information about Alireza

I have been teaching Persian Language and Literature for about 20 years. I have taught students of all ages and levels from beginners to undergraduate. I started my job in 1993 teaching at a number of high Schools in Iran. After gaining my PhD, I started to work as a researcher in the Persian Department of Institute of Humanities and Social Studies and in universities simultaneously.

My main field of study is Shahnama, however I have published academic articles in Iranian contemporary fictions and conducted a project called ‘Nativism in Iranian Stories’, 1320-1357.

I am currently teaching Persian Language at SOAS (School of Oriental and African Studies) Language Centre and it has given me the opportunity to share my knowledge and experience with those adults eager to learn Persian at different levels.

Tutoring Approach
Based on my assessment, I would set a target for you. Students are learning Persian for different purposes. For those who want to learn colloquial Persian I use the story telling method. In this method I will give my students opportunity to speak and converse from the first lesson; they would then be encouraged to use the vocabulary and sentences learned.

This method is also used for the students who are preparing themselves for GCSE exam, listening and speaking part.

Students who want to prepare themselves for A level exams or GSCE reading and writing need to emphasize more on reading and writing skills based on the ten topics considered by their exam board. To cover different topics, students are given different tests and questions. I will work on student’s works in the class to give them enough confidence in their exams.
