As an experienced classroom, online and one on one English Language and English Literature teacher, I have enjoyed teaching for over two decades in a high-achieving Swindon Academy and as a personal tutor. I was rated Outstanding in June 2008 and September 2012 by OFSTED.

I am very happy to tutor remotely via Skype, Zoom, What’s App or FaceTime. I simply email resources to the tutee beforehand (usually a detailed PowerPoint) and refer to these throughout the lesson. Parents and students then have their own copy for revision.

I have taught male and female students aged 11 - 18 and have achieved success with all abilities. My results have always been excellent, consistently adding value to predicted grades and levels in KS3, KS4 and A Level.

Since retiring from the classroom, I have enjoyed successfully tutoring individual students since 2014. I am always praised by parents for the intricate preparation of each lesson, the engaging delivery and for the detailed marking of homework, which I always reflect upon with the student to further enrich their learning.

In addition, I have always been a very popular teacher with all students, always able to quickly connect with each learner. I like to identify the learning needs of the student by firstly looking at examples of work then addressing areas that need intervention by short, enjoyable activities that enable me to give instant feedback to both the parent and the student.

I have a very detailed knowledge of the AQA, Eduqas, OCR, Cambridge and EdExcel/International Edexcel GCSE examination boards and have externally marked the AQA English Language Paper One for the past three years, so I have a very detailed knowledge of what the board are looking for in order to achieve full marks. I have also externally marked the AQA Paper 2.

I also externally mark the Cambridge O Level English Language exam for overseas students, as well as the International Edexcel GCSE for several students in UAE.
