Information about Adam

EXPERIENCED TEACHER AND SENIOR EXAMINER of A LEVEL ECONOMICS, with GCSE too, and also some GCSE Business Studies. I can assist greatly with the economics elements of A-Level Business Studies (demand, supply, elasticity etc). I teach all Economics boards, including the old specification and the new linear version and Pre U.

**** 2018 results (class size 25) = 96% A*-B and 70% A*-A ****

I create tutorial/revision videos online to help students that I teach and tutor under the channel A2Econ on ytube.

My tutoring method is friendly and approachable, but ultimately designed not to spoon-feed students information, but to help them unlock the doors to the subject with my assistance.

My approach is Socratic - question-led learning designed to enable students to see the subject for what it is for themselves, and independently discover the correct way to approach its content.

Additionally, I ensure that the Economics learned is current and up-to-date, using what is going on the real world as a model for the theoretical content learned. I like to ensure the learning experience is fun and engaging for the student, but challenging in terms of learning to think about the subject in the proper way. Independence of mind and therefore an ability to deal with any economic situation in an exam, is what I want students to achieve through learning the subject with me.

We will work on content understanding, but also on how to write properly constructed, and stellar, essays, in order to excel in exams.

My school students all did very well in their exams, and my experience working as an examiner has allowed me to see good teaching from bad, and to understand how great students excel when in the exam hall. In my past two years of teaching I had an ALPS score of close to 1 (very high) in 2013-14, and a solid 2 in 2014-15. ALPS is a `value added` measure - marking students against a national average according to their overall ability from previous exam results (SATS, GCSEs etc) to show whether the teaching they received increased their grades (based on their overall ability). The scale runs from 1 to 8.

As a Cambridge BA and MPhil graduate, I have a good understanding of how to approach the Oxbridge interview experience, so would be willing to assist with interview preparation for Law and Economics (also PPE and Land Economy). I also offer a personal statement advice and checking service - something that students at school have found extremely popular.

Please feel free to contact me. I am willing to tutor in Manchester and surrounding areas, possibly parts of Cheshire too, and can travel by train.

Experienced with online tutoring - preferred platform being Zoom.

Availability: I am free, subject to previously booked slots with students. Please contact and we can arrange a time. I am happy to work at weekends. I travel by train.

I travel to students` houses but would be willing to teach from my flat in central Manchester.

Willing to travel: 20 miles

Experience: Seven years teaching in three separate schools of GCSE and (mainly) A Level Economics and GCSE Business Studies. Currently at a school of renown in Cheshire.
Seven years undertaking private tuition.
Examiner Team Leader (Senior Examiner) for Economics A Level.
Examiner for another exam board too.

Thank you Adam. My daughter found your A level Economic tutor sessions engaging and helpful. Her confidence has grown and I think that is largely down to your teaching style which has developed her understanding about what is required for an A grade. Your sessions added an additional layer to her class taught lessons and in her words "he really knows his stuff".

Adam is an outstanding communicator who can explain complex concepts in Economics. He helped me so much and made Economics my favourite subject, and I really wish that I knew him since the beginning of my course, he would’ve saved so much time. I highly recommend Adam as he put in a lot of effort to help me.
