Information about April
I am an experienced tutor with six years teaching experience within a school as a qualified Assistant Teacher. Upon observation, it was most recently noted that my work is carried out to an outstanding level.
My main expertise lies with one-to-one teaching and group interventions with children who require additional support; particularly picking up on the importance of maintaining an assertive yet more individualised and empathetic teaching approach.
I am also qualified in Child-Centered Interprofessional Practice in which I gained a First at Degree Level. In my studies, together with my years of experience, I continue to see the rewards of inspiring and teaching school children. I believe in promoting a love for learning in a happy and positive environment; teaching with patience.
Specialising in maths and English at KS1 and KS2, in line with the National Curriculum, I am available for small groups or one-to-one tutoring.
I am DBS checked and a mum of three children which only adds to my understanding. I teach children within their own home, evenings and weekends and my first session is without charge, which gives the opportunity for all to meet and discuss how we can work together to achieve the best outcome.
I feel teaching children is demanding but hugely rewarding - especially working with children at this vital, formative period of their educational development.
Availability: Evenings and weekends.
Willing to travel: 4 miles
Experience: Experienced tutor with a background in supporting teaching in primary schools. Running and management of interventions and focus groups to increase children`s individual levels, including mathematics and English (reading and writing).
My experience is with primary school children at all levels, including those with Special Educational Needs and English as an Additional Language.

April is absolutely brilliant. She has started English tutoting with my 4-years old daughter only 3 weeks ago and my daughter is really enjoying the lessons and is looking forward to them. She even asks during the weeks when is April coming!
Thank you so much for being such a wonderful teacher. You have made a great difference to my girls and encouraging them to reach higher grades. I want you to know that all your hard work doesn`t go unnoticed. All your fun activities and interesting lesson plans have taught them so much, and they always look forward to your lesson. You`ve been such a blessing, we will always be grateful to you for your support and kindness. Thank you 🙏;;
April is friendly, approachable and professional. So far she has had 3 sessions with my 8 year old son and he has really warmed to her already and enjoys his maths lessons. From what I have seen she makes the learning interesting and fun and is always open to feedback and extra information on topics etc
April has been outstanding. My son has come on leaps and bounds since being tutored by April. She has a excellent child centred approach and is able engage and also keep a child focused for an extended period. April is also reliable, she attends all sessions and also attends on time. I would recommend April.
