Information about Ella
I`m a 23 year old in my second year of my PhD at the University of Birmingham, studying the blood flow in the back of the eye and how it changes in septic patients. I`m really enjoying the project, as I do a lot of my work with patients in the Queen Elizabeth hospital.
My undergraduate degree was in Biomedical Sciences which I also did at the University of Birmingham, choosing neurotrauma as my 3rd year project. My main interests are in neuroscience, with biology as my favourite subject in school.
In my free time, I love taking my dog on walks, listening to music and bingeing Netflix!
Willing to travel: 2 miles
Experience: Degree: 2:1 BSc (Hons) Biomedical Sciences - University of Birmingham.
A levels: biology (A), chemistry (B), physics (B) - Stratford Girls` Grammar School.
11 GCSEs including: biology (A*), chemistry (A*), physics (A*), maths (A), English lit+lang (A) - The Warriner School.
Whilst in sixth form, I was part of a student mentoring group, whereby we would help younger years with their revision, and gave UCAS support to AS-level students by offering help with their personal statements. I also helped form a dissection group to teach the AS biology students about animal organ systems, focussing on a different animal each week. More recently, following my undergraduate degree I continued working on a project in the lab, which involved demonstrating and teaching the techniques to another student.
