I am an experienced French teacher and have extensive knowledge of the A level curriculum. I can really make a difference to A Level grades.
I have particularly positive feedback from students regarding improving essay writing skills; preparing for speaking exams; grammatical knowledge; and how to tackle translations and summaries. I have a lot of experience in helping students focus on the elements of the exam which will have the greatest impact on grade improvement.
Online classes can be very effective for practising for speaking exams. I offer practice and support, with detailed constructive feedback, based on exam mark schemes. to build confidence and improve performance.
Availability: In term time, Wednesdays and week day evenings.
Willing to travel: 8 miles
Experience: I have twenty years teaching experience, including A level and GCSE French. I have experience teaching the following literary texts: "No et moi", L`étranger", and the films: "Au revoir les enfants", "La Haine", and "Un secret".

Carol is an outstanding tutor who has really helped my daughter to understand her French works beyond the A Level syllabus. She has helped her better understand both the speaking and writing elements of French A Level, particularly improving her French essay marks during the course despite only being her tutor for the last few months and definitely made my daughter more confident about tackling the essays during the exams. I would thoroughly recommend her to anyone seeking to improve their/their children`s French.

I was looking (not very hopefully!) for a tutor to help my daughter in the last few weeks leading up to her French A`level. She had gradually lost confidence in her ability and was concerned she wouldn`t get the A grade she needed for university. Carol was incredibly helpful. She spent quite a long time asking me about my daughter`s academic background / strengths and weaknesses, and similar amount of time asking my daughter herself. She then carefully planned her sessions to target the areas where most help was needed. Carol was friendly, encouraging, positive, professional and reliable. She was also very knowledgeable about the A`level exam and useful techniques / strategies to pass with a good grade. My daughter actually enjoyed her lessons and feels in a much better place to sit the exam - I can unreservedly recommend Carol as a tutor.
