I`ve just lowered my prices due to the pandemic and I really must start asking my ex-students to leave feedback!
I completed a PGCE at Huddersfield University teaching Maths & Physics at A level, GCSE and Adults and then taught both subjects at York college.
I started by teaching abroad. Then. the PGCE really made a difference to the quality of my teaching (a PGCE is no guarantee that someone can teach, but its more risky without one).
I love tutoring. For so many students its about blocks to get past and hurdles to climb over. I’ve tutored many times (and currently still do) and its important to connect and be flexible: if the student is bored, bring ideas if the student is exam focused, be objective.
The approach is set by the parent/student and is influenced by the goal - exam prep; new topics; getting past blocks; revisiting old topics; starting from scratch; homework support. Whichever, it is an unpressurised atmosphere of support, empathy and patience.
