Information about Emma
Hi, I`m Emma and i`m a Research Manager at the NIHR in the Global Health department. Until 2021, I lived in the world of academia and completed my Biochemistry degree and my medical PhD at The University of Southampton before being a postdoctoral research fellow for 8 years. During this time i lectured the undergraduate medical students and taught enzymes and diagnostics material.
Most of my research focused on how amino acids cross the syncytiotrophoblast of the placenta and I have been able to identify several new transporters in the placenta and published many peer reviewed papers.
I know the struggles of academic life and am a laid back tutor!
Availability: Most weekday evenings after 7. Virtual availability most of the time :)
Willing to travel: 15 miles
Experience: i have taught on the BM5 programme at the University of Southampton, have supervised numerous PhD students and have been tutoring on and off for over ten years.

Emma was great helping out our son with biomechanics over the Christmas period and would thoroughly recommend her as a tutor.

Emma is an excellent, reliable, professional and friendly tutor. My daughter`s grades have improved significantly in all science disciplines along with her confidence. She has also found a new motivation for subject. We shall definitely be asking for Emma to support our daughter through her final year of GCSE`s. Highly recommended
