I am a 23 year old graduate with a real passion for Mathematics (and teaching it)!

I have a Masters in Engineering from the University of Cambridge (2.i), covering a wide range of papers from Mathematical Optimisation to Advanced Dynamics, and a Masters project involving designing a bioreactor. My exam results at school were 3A*1A (Maths, Further Maths, Physics, Ancient Greek respectively) for A Level, and 10A* at GCSE. So you could say I`ve had plenty a chance to hone my exam skills!

In terms of employment, I have worked for leading firms such as Newton Europe, Arup, KPMG, and BAE Systems in various Consulting and Engineering roles during and after my degree. I am currently looking to make a career change into Software.

Outside of work, I am a trustee of a charity close to my hear called BEHT which provides Health and Education services in rural India, and volunteer at the mental health charity `Mind`. To unwind I like to listen to music, hike in new places, and I recently learnt how to juggle!

Experience: I have tutored Maths and Physics at GCSE previously with very good results.

Throughout university, I have also informally explained concepts and questions to my friends and peers. I have delivered training and presentations educating about various technical subjects in my previous jobs.

Tutoring Approach:

I have a real desire for deep understanding and a love for problem solving, and I hope to use this is a strong base from which to teach. I truly want everyone to reach their full potential academically as well as more generally. I believe that each child has the capability to do well in Maths, just it often requires a mixture of looking at things from a different angle, some inspiration, and hard work to make things fall into place.

In the first session I will sit down with the student to figure out where we want to get to by the end, and form a step by step plan accordingly of what topics to cover and skills to practice to reach that goal. This path is of course flexible and can be adapted as we get a better idea of what is working well. My approach involves clearly identifying the biggest `blockers`, or things that a student may be afraid of/finding most difficult, and tackling those first.

My belief is that success in this subject is gained from a solid understanding of the fundamentals and a good amount of practice at solving problems, and this balance will be reflected in the class and homework exercises. I will persevere and adapt my methods until I find explanations that the student can really connect with.

I hope to both inspire a love for the subject, and transfer skills to enable the student to perform well in exams!
