I am a graduate with a BA (hons) Humanities degree in English Language and Creative Writing and am a published writer of science fiction,horror and fantasy short stories.I am also a trained proofreader and editor - I worked in-house at Trinity Mirror from 1998-20009, when I was made redundant,so I also offer a proofreading/editing/ghostwriting service at £10 an hour.
In June 2018, I qualified as a teacher of English as a foreign language (TEFL)
My approach is to present the student with a picture/pictures of fantasy art and ask them to write a story, based on their interpretation of it; I then point out errors in their spelling, grammar etc. while the student (hopefully) is not aware of it, so, in effect, I am using creative writing as a `Trojan horse` - it also appeals to their sense of creativity.
Availability: I am available most hours after school - 16.00- 19.00,Tuesdays, Thursdays and Saturday afternoons, if needed. Enquiries regarding online lessons especially welcome.

Experience: I have been tutoring for 3 years now and have taught Creative Writing and English Language - particularly comprehension - at KS3 and GCSE level on a one-to-one basis.

Lovely friendly, punctual man. My son had a great rapport with David who helped him with his English language. My son always enjoyed his lesson and his grades certainly improved after just a couple of months. Would definitely recommend.

David is very personable and was very friendly teacher. He was punctual and could go down to the level of the child to get them engaged in their work.
