Information about Laura

I am an undergraduate flute student on a scholarship to the Royal Academy of Music, studying with Karen Jones. Previously, I attended the Purcell School of Music where I studied with Anna Pope.

My varied performing experience ranges from solo and chamber music recitals at the Wigmore Hall, to principal flute of the Purcell Symphony Orchestra at the Royal Festival Hall - even background music at Buckingham Palace.

Availability: Although I have a busy schedule at the Royal Academy, I am very flexible and will try my best to find suitable times. Evenings and weekends are mostly good.

I am particularly familiar with Central London, Ealing, Lambeth and Rickmansworth areas though I am willing to travel anywhere with good transport links.

Willing to travel: 20 miles

Experience: I love working with people who want to learn music, at any age. I feel strongly that if the student enjoys what they do it will be far more rewarding for both the student and teacher.

Although I have some experience teaching privately over the past few years, I consider my work in music outreach to be my main inspiration for teaching. At The Purcell School, I regularly organized workshops and concerts in local schools, nurseries and care homes.

I was also selected to participate in an outreach project across orphanages, hospitals, care homes and churches in Seoul, South Korea. The project was hugely rewarding, and taught me how music can be used as a language in itself.

I take a fun but hard working approach to teaching, and I`m always thinking outside the box - whether it be exploring world flutes, piccolo or discovering exciting unknown pieces, I try my best to encourage my students to not only be flute players, but well-rounded musicians.
